Lighting Maintenance Technician (Part Time)

Orange County

This is a part-time evening position, suitable for a newcomer to the electrical industry, who is looking to earn excellent compensation while learning the trade. The days of work can be arranged according to your schedule, but each shift begins at dusk and continues until the scheduled work is complete, sometimes late into the evening. Our Night Techs drive our service vans to our contracted lighting maintenance communities and perform lighting maintenance services on the outdoor common area lighting systems within homeowners associations. The electrical services that the Night Tech will perform after dark include burnt out lamp replacement, reconnecting loose wiring within light fixtures, minor troubleshooting and assessment, resetting tripping circuit breakers, capping exposed wires, replacing adapter ballasts and fixtures lenses, identifying additional problems that cannot be repaired at night, cleaning light fixtures, documenting repairs made, etc.

The selected candidate will be provided with on-the-job training at the onset of employment in order to teach the procedures and expectations of the job. The successful candidate will have either one year experience in the electrical field or a related construction or mechanical industry, or be enrolled in an electrical trade school. If a trade school or community college electrical program has not yet been completed, the successful candidate will need to plan on enrolling in one in the near future in order to comply with pending California regulations. Other requirements include a clean driving record and passing an pre-employment drug screening.

The physical requirements of this position include walking significant distances while carrying a bucket loaded with materials, driving throughout the county, carrying and climbing ladders, using hand and power tools and lifting materials up to 40 pounds.
